Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Funeral services were held on Thursday, September 3 at Waterloo Ridge Lutheran Church for Inga Ethel Goodno, age 78, of Spring Grove, Minnesota. The Rev. Gordon Smedsrud officiating at the services.
Inga was born in Pleasant Township on August 22, 1909 to Martin and Anna (Forde) Monson. She married Alvin Goodno on September 2, 1930 at Spring Grove, Minnesota. They farmed in the Highland Township area. Inga died on Saturday, August 29, 1987 at the Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, Wisconsin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alvin Goodno on April 5, 1985; 2 sons, a granddaughter, 2 grandsons, and one great-grandson; and 3 brothers, Leonard E. Monson, Leonard E. Monson, and Alvin M. Monson.
She is survived by one son, Allen Goodno of Priest River, Idaho and one daughter, Ardelis Auna of Spring Grove, Minnesota; 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; a brother Marvin Monson of Dorchester, Iowa and 4 sisters, Helen Babcock of Deer Creek, Minnesota, Ruth Meyer of Adel, Iowa, Hazel Sater of Austin, Minnesota and Lillian Harris of Postville, Iowa.
NOTE: One deceased son of Inga and Alvin Goodno was Keven Zane Goodno, born November 15, 1945 and died October 26, 1972 at the age of 26. Staff Sergeant Goodno was an observer in an army helicopter on a scout mission during the Vietnam War. While hovering at the tree-top level, a command-detonated mine blew the helicopter out of the air. Goodno was killed instantly. He enlisted in the army in 1964 and was serving his second tour of duty in Vietnam at the time of his death.
