Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Dreier were held Wednesday, July 7, 1999 at 1:30 p.m. at the Schutte Funeral Home in Postville, Iowa. Verdon Swenson officiated. Interment was in the Postville Cemetery.
Emma Bertha Dreier, the daughter of William and Minnie (Linderbaum) Martens, was born February 11, 1904 at Moneek, which is located in Bloomfield Township, Winneshiek County, near Castalia, Iowa. She passed away Monday, June 28, 1999 in the Prairie Health Care Center in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. She had reached the age of 95 years, four months and 17 days.
She was baptized July 10, 1904 by the Reverend E. Schmidt and confirmed September 18, 1918 by the Reverend E. Bockelman, both in St. Paul Lutheran Church at Postville, Iowa.
Emma attended the rural school near her home. On June 29, 1926 she was married to Leo Gustaf William Dreier in St. Paul Lutheran Church at Postville, by the Reverend Fink. To this union a son was born. They farmed in the Frankville area, then moved to a farm north of Postville. Emma helped with the farm work and enjoyed working in her garden and with her flowers. In 1957 they bought a house in Postville. Emma became a resident of the Prairie Health Care Center in 1995.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Leo, who died in 1991, and a sister, Frieda (Jim) Enyart.
Surviving is her son, Eugene Dreier and wife, Barbara, of McGregor, Iowa, eight grandchildren, Douglas, Connie, Jim, Tina and Gene (Jr.) Dreier, Tim, Bill and Joel Sautter and 9 great grandchildren, Lindy, Kayla, Nicholas, Stephanie, Kim, Scott and Bree Sautter and James (Jr.) and Selena Dreier.
Casket bearers were Douglas Dreier, Tim Sautter, Jim Dreier, Bill Sautter, Eugene Dreier (Jr.) and Joel Sautter.
