Edgar's obituary from the Mabel Record of July 7, 1939.

Who knows how near my life is expended, Time flies and death is hastening on. How soon my term of trial ended, Death may be here and life be gone.

Once again the truth of these lines has impressibly been set before us and has elicited from our hearts this supplication: My God for Jesus sake I pray, Thy peace may bless my parting day.'

Edgar Melvin Sander Aasum has answered the final call of death. Attending to his work as usual this spring and summer, sickness came suddenly and soon life was extinct.

Edgar Aasum, age 39, son of Mrs. Ellen Aasum, passed away Wednesday morning at his home.

Born on the 18th day of May 1900 at the home of his parents, Ole and Ellen Aasum, at which place his entire life was spent. Death came on the 28th day of June 1939, giving him a span of life of 39 years, 1 month and 10 days.

He was baptized on the First day of July 1900 at the Hesper church. Religious instruction was given him during the years of childhood at home and in schools and in the pastors class and he was confirmed in the Christian doctrine in 1914 with a class of 21. It is interesting to note that Edgar is the second of that class to answer the final summons. Lilah Selman Falk being the first.

Edgar never married, and his years were devoted to the assistance of his widowed mother on the home place, Town of Newburg, Fillmore County, Minnesota. He leaves besides an aged mother, the following brothers; Olaf and Carl Aasum and Nicolai Thorsen, residing in Winnesheik County, Iowa, Oscar Aasum at the home farm and Sverre Aasum, Town of Newburg, Fillmore County, Minnesota. Also one sister, Emma, Mrs. Clarence Iverson, Town of Preble Fillmore County, Minnesota.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 1, at the home at 10:30 o'clock in the morning and at 1:00 o'clock at the Hesper Lutheran church, Rev. Ivar Havneros officiating. Burial will be in the Hesper cemetery.
