Freddy Bergan
Freddy Bergan, 86, of Ridgeway, died Tuesday, May 4, 1999, at the Cresco Care Center in Cresco after a short illness.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 7, at 1 p.m., at the Peace Lutheran Church in Ridgeway, with the Revs. Phillip Olson and Ginny Olson officiating.
Martha Olson was the organist. Phillip Olson sang a solo of "How Great Thou Art." The congregation sang 'The Old Rugged Cross, "Children of the Heavenly Father" and "Be Present."
Casket bearers were Paul Anderson, Gordon Anderson, Michael Bergan, Richard Bergan, Roger Bergan and Lee Pearson.
Burial was at the Ridgeway United Lutheran Cemetery. The French & Balik Funeral Home handled arrangements.
Freddy William Bergan was born Nov. 2, 1912, in St. Paul, Minn., the son of Estella and Emil Kunde. His mother died when he was 3 years old, and Freddy was raised by Isabelle Bergan.
In 1940, Freddy was united in marriage with Selma Jaastad at the St. John's parsonage in Locust. To this union, three children were born, William, Katherne and David. His wife, Selma, died Dec. 3, 1974.
Freddy farmed until 1975, and then moved to Ridgeway, where he lived with his son, David and daughter, Katherne.
Failing health made it necessary for Freddy to move to the Cresco Care Center Aug. 24, 1998.
Survivors include two sons, Bill and Helen Bergan, and David Bergan; one daughter, Katherne Bergan; two grandsons, Richard and Kim Bergan, and Michael Bergan and Erin Wilson; and three great-grandchildren, Cody and Trevor Bergan and Brady Bergan.
Freddy Bergan was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Selma; a sister; and a brother, Milwood.
