Dorothy Henry

Dorothy Henry, 88, died Monday, April 24, 2000, at the Aase Haugen Home in Decorah.

Funeral services were held Thursday, April 27, at 11 a.m., at the St. Joseph's Worship Center in Cresco. The Rev. Donald Hawes officiated and the Rev. Michael Tauke concelebrated.

Alan Sensor was the organist and Joan Schissel was the cantor. Gifts were presented by Earl and Pat Henry.

Casket bearers were grandchildren David, Daniel, John, Jim, Susan and Angela Henry, and Julie Brenno.

Honorary bearers were Pat Donovan; Jerome Kingley, Charles Wilhelm, Paul Gossman, Eugene Daley and Lester McCauley.

Interment was at St. Bridget's Cemetery, Bluffton. The Conway Funeral Home of Cresco handled arrangements.

Dorothy Genevieve (McCauley) Henry was born in Bluffton Township, Winneshiek County, Nov. 16, 1911, the daughter of John D. and Sarah
McCauley. She attended school at Rudolphinum in Protivin.

In August of 1929, she was united in marriage to James P. Henry at St. Bridget's in Bluffton. To this union four sons were born.

Dorothy was a member of St. Agnes Rosary Society of Plymouth Rock, the Farm Bureau, the Catholic Daughters of America, and ACCW, where she held several offices.

She enjoyed traveling, cooking and baking. She was always busy helping in her church, holding many of the offices.

Survivors include three sons, Earl and Pat Henry of Cresco, Duane Henry and his friend, Marilyn of Decorah, and Jerome Henry of Canton, Minn.; seven grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Dorothy Henry was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James, who died Feb. 12, 1962; one son, Eldon, who died in infancy; and one sister, Pearl Gossman.
