Martin Dahlberg, 91, of Hesper, died Monday, Jan. 1, 2001 at the Green Lea Manor Nursing Home in Mabel.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5 at the Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel and one hour prior to services at the church. Funeral services will be Saturday, Jan. 6 at the Hesper Lutheran Church in Hesper, with Rev. Hans Floan officiating.
Burial will be in Hesper Lutheran Cemetery. Mengis Funeral Home of Mabel is handling arrangements.
Martin Dahlberg was born August 28, 1909 in Readstown, Wisc. to Oscar and Mabel (Rein) Dahlberg. He attended rural school near Soldier's Grove, Wisc.
In 1927 he moved to Pine Island, Minn, where he worked as a plumber. He married Blanch Walker, but they were later divorced.
On Sept. 11, 1943, he married Betty Kundett in Zumbrota, Minn. In 1955 they moved to Canton, Minn, where they operated the Canton Hardware
Store until 1963.Martin Dahlberg was then a self-employed plumber until 1987, when he retired and moved to Hesper.
He was a member of the Hesper Lutheran Church and enjoyed fishing, auctions, flea markets and playing the accordion and fiddle.
Martin Dahlberg is survived by his wife, Betty Dahlberg, three sons, Marvin and Clarice Dahlberg of Warroad, Minn.; Gary and Nancy and Marty Dahlberg, both of Hesper, one daughter, Jannelle and Mike Tripp of Mabel; 10 grandchildren, 11 greatgrandchildren, and two half brothers, Ray Runice of Hayward, Wisc. and Arnold Runice of Richland Center, Wisc.
Martin Dahlberg was preceded in death by his parents; two half sisters and two half brothers.
