Robert R. Herold
Robert R. Herold, 67, of Racket, Mo., and formerly of Spillville and Calmar, died Thursday, Dec. 9, 1999, at his home following a lengthy illness.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 14, at the St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery in Calmar with the Rev. Donald Hawes officiating. Friends may call from noon until 12:45 p.m. at the French Funeral Home in Calmar Tuesday.
A family night and visitation also was held Saturday, Dec. 11, from 7-8 p.m., at the Reser Funeral Home in Warsaw, Mo.
Robert was born in Winneshiek County Aug. 11, 1932, the son of Michael and Celia (Ludwig) Herold. He grew up in Iowa and graduated from Calmar High School in 1951.
On March 2, 1954, he was united in marriage to Helen Elizabeth Hunter in Calmar. They made their home on a farm in the Spillville and Calmar communities.
He also worked as a construction supervisor for the Black Hawk Construction Co. in Waterloo. In May of 1983, the couple moved to their home in Racket, Mo., where they owned and operated H & R Lures.
Survivors include his wife, Helen; one daughter Robin and David Zweibahmer of Calmar; two sons, Steve and Lori Herold of Decorah, and Ronald and Heidi Herold of Calmar; one granddaughter, Teressa Herold; three sisters, Martha Martin of San Jose, Calif., Elaine Herold of Lincoln, Neb., and Ruth Herold of Omaha, Neb.; three brothers, Donald Herold of Oxford, Ark., Walter Herold of Ogden, and Leonard Herold of Brookfield, Vermont; and numerous nieces and nephews, and other relative and friends.
