Mathilda "Tillie" Timp

Mathilda "Tillie" Timp, 95, of Calmar, died Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2000, at the Aase Haugen Home in Decorah.

A funeral mass was held Saturday, Sept. 9, at 11 a.m., at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Calmar, with the Rev. Robert Hirsch officiating.

Al Sensor was the organist. The St. Al's choir provided special music.

Casket bearers were Marty Timp, Wilfred Elsbernd, Sereinus Elsbernd, Art Uhlenhake, Norbert Bullerman and Herbert Zweibohmer.

Lector was Patty Frana and mass servers were Reid Backes, Matt Bullerman and Bob Bullerman.

Interment was at the church cemetery. The French & Balik Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Mathilda (Leferink) Timp was born Sept. 20, 1904, in Cresco, the daughter of George and Mary (Bush) Leferink. She attended country school in Howard County.

She married Felix Timp on April 4, 1923, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Cresco. She and Felix farmed west of Calmar and lived there until 1946, when they moved to Calmar.

Mathilda entered the Aase Haugen Home in 1994.

She enjoyed canning, gardening, quilting, sewing, crocheting and playing cards. She belonged to St. Al's Rosary Society.

Survivors include nieces and nephews.

Mathilda "Tillie" Timp was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Felix, who died in 1987; two brothers, John Leferink and Frank and sister-in-law Anna Leferink; one sister, Catherine and brother-in-law Bernard Wilde and step-mother Theresa Balk Leferink.
