Helen Marie Schneberger
Helen Marie Schneberger, 88, of Calmar, died Saturday, July 22, 2000, at the Aase Haugen Home in Decorah following a lengthy illness.
A funeral mass was held Wednesday, July 26, at 11 a.m., at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Calmar, with the Rev. Donald Hawes officiating.
Music was provided by organist Al Sensor and the St. Al's choir.
Casket bearers were Jim Huber, Scott Cornell, David Schneberger, Monty Riha, Charles Frana, Norman Oberheu and Dennis Rosendahl.
Interment was at the St. Aloysius Church Cemetery. The French Funeral Home handled arrangements.
Helen (Sobolik) Schneberger was born Oct. 21, 1911, in Calmar, the daughter of James and Elizabeth (Kipta) Sobolik. She attended and graduated from Calmar High School.
Helen married Alex Schneberger May 15, 1934, in Dubuque.
She enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, canning, sewing, embroidery and making quilts.
Helen had been at the Aase Haugen Home since February of 1999.
Survivors include one daughter, Bette Riha of Winnebago, Minn.; two sons, Norman Schneberger of Deland, Fla., and James Schneberger of South Haven, Mich.; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Leona Rosendahl of Calmar; and one brother, Arnold Sobolik of Cedar Rapids.
