Leonard Joseph Luzum
Leonard J. "Lenny" Luzum, 83, of Calmar, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001 at the Aase Haugen Nursing Home in Decorah after a lingering illness.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, March 3 at 11 a.m. at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Calmar, with Rev. Donald Hawes officiating.
Music was provided by organist Alan Sensor and the St. Aloysius Choir.
Casket bearers were Kelly Luzum, Brian Luzum, Dan Klimesh, Alan Klimesh, George Walden, Loren Kuennen and Roger Buchheit.
Interment was at St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery in Calmar. French Funeral Home of Calmar handled arrangements.
Leonard Joseph Luzum was born May 27, 1917 near Calmar, the son of Joseph and Mary (Soukup) Luzum.
Leonard Luzum attended school in Calmar, and farmed west of Calmar for many years, retiring in 1991.
He married Ethel Huinker June 23, 1941 at Our Lady of Seven Dolors in Festina.
He was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church and helped usher for many years, and he also enjoyed playing baseball, softball and cards.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel Luzum of Calmar; one daughter, Marilyn and Jim Klimesh of Cedar Rapids; three sons, Larry and Kathy Luzum of
Cedar Rapids; Dick and Diane Luzum of Calmar and Daryl Luzum of Calmar; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.Leonard Joseph "Lenny" Luzum was preceded in death by his parents and, one sister, Helen Buchheit.
