Ermin Philip Hageman

Ermin Hageman, 71, of Calmar, died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001 at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Postville.

Funeral Mass was held Friday, Jan. 5 , at 11 a.m. at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Calmar, with Rev. Donald Hawes officiating.

Music was provided by organist Alan Sensor and the St. Aloysius Choir, who sang "Prayer of St. Francis," "Here I am Lord," " How Great Thou Art," and "Be Not Afraid". Lector was Sister Joan Hageman.

Casket bearers were Melissa Steffans, Michele Johnson, Jason Tieskoetter, Corey Tieskoetter, Kayla Tieskoetter, Mike Steffans, Bryan Lowery, Kyle Tieskoetter, Amanda Johnson and Jennifer Dallenbach.

Interment was at St. Aloysius Cemetery in Calmar with French Funeral Home of Calmar handling arrangements.

Ermin Philip Hageman was born Jan. 27, 1929 near Festina to Nicholas and Rosalia (Imoehl) Hageman. He attended school in Festina.

On January 24, 1951 he joined the U.S. Army and in January 1953 he was honorably discharged.

On April 28, 1953 he married Cleon Timp at St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church in Ossian. They farmed near Calmar until moving to town in 1991.

Ermin Hageman was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Calmar, St. Aloysius Cemetery Trustee, the Calmar American Legion, South Winneshiek Country Club and the Winneshiek Co. Farm Bureau. He enjoyed playing golf, cards, and having a good cigar.

Survivors include his wife, Cleon Hageman of Calmar, five daughters: Karen Dallenbach of Decorah; Kathy and Alan Johnson of Postville; Karla and Don Steffans of Decorah; Kris and Dave Lowery of Decorah, and Kim and Randy Tieskoetter of Ossian. Additional survivors include three brothers: his twin, Edwin Hageman, of Calmar, Quentin and Pat Hageman of Decorah and Victor and Elaine Hageman of West Des Moines, six sisters: Florentina Hageman of Calmar; Rita Wenthold of Calmar; Lucille and John Kruse of Waucoma; Vera and Greg Kriener of Waucoma; Dolores and Norbert Kuennen of St. Lucas and Sister Joan Hageman of La Crosse, Wisc., and 10 grandchildren: Jennifer Dallenbach, Michele and Amanda Johnson, Melissa and Mike Steffans,
Bryan Lowery, and Jason, Corey, Kyle and Kayla Tieskoetter.

Ermin Philip Hageman was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Marcellinus, and a son-in-law, Randy Dallenbach.
