Marcella Klimesh

Marcella Klimesh, 84, died on Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, at the Aase Haugen Nursing Home in Decorah.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 11 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Calmar, with Rev. Donald Hawes officiating.

Lector was Bobby Jo Klimesh. Music was provided by Alan Sensor, organist, Harlan Mikota, soloist, and the St. Aloysius Choir. Musical selections included "On Eagle's Wings," "Here I am Lord," " How Great Thou Art," and "Be Not Afraid."

Casket bearers were Mark Myers, Alan Myers, Bernie Puffer, Bill Klimesh, Bob Klimesh and Harold Myers.

Interment was at St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery in Calmar. Arrangements were handled by French Funeral Home in Calmar.

Marcella (Herold) Klimesh was born on July 30, 1916, the daughter of John and Evelyn (Zahasky) Herold, near Spillville. She attended St. Wenceslaus Catholic School in Spillville.

On March 31, 1940, she married Emil A. Klimesh at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church.

Marcella worked at South Winn School from 1976-1993, when she developed heart problems. She enjoyed sewing, playing cards, knitting, crocheting and visiting with her family.

She was a resident of the Green Lea Manor in Mabel from October 1999 until she moved to the Aase Haugen Nursing Home in January 2000.

Marcella Klimesh was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, the Rosary Society and a 50 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include two daughters, Sandra and Robert Holthaus of Calmar and Sharon and Harmon Wisted of Cedar Rapids and one son, Robert and Barb Klimesh of Calmar.

Also surviving are one sister, Hilda Myers of Fort Atkinson, as well as numerous grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.

Marcella Klimesh was preceded in death by her husband, Emil Klimesh, in 1977; her parents, John and Evelyn Herold, one brother, Archie and two sisters, Hattie and Norma.
