Dorothy Wenthold

Dorothy Wenthold, 81, of Calmar, died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 1999, at the Good Samaritan Home in Postville.

A funeral mass was held Saturday Sept. 18, at 11 a.m., at the St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Calmar, with the Rev. Donald Hawes officiating.

Alan Sensor was the organist. Casket bearers were Craig Frana, Keith Frana, Kyke Lutkenhaus, Wayne Frana, Kenny Lutkenhaus and Alan Wenthold.

Interment was at the St. Aloysius Cemetery. The French Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Dorothy A. (Frana) Wenthold was born Nov. 29, 1917, in Calmar, the daughter of Frank and Barbara (Kalec) Frana. She attended St. Aloysius School.

She married Rudy Wenthold Sept. 7, 1940, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church.

Dorothy worked as a bookkeeper for Frana Beer Distributing. She also helped her husband in the tavern and was a cook at the high school.

Dorothy was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church and the South Winneshiek Country Club. She enjoyed playing cards, sewing and listening to polka music.

Survivors include one son, Dennis and Mireya Sebring of Sebring, Fla.; one granddaughter, Tatiana and Sean Fitzgerald of Avon Park, Fla.; one grandchild, Abby Wenthold of Sebring, Fla.; two great-grandchildren, Sean Michael and Katia Fitzgerald of Avon Park, Fla.; two brothers, Larry Frana and Ed and Bea Frana, of Calmar; and several nieces and nephews.

Dorothy Wenthold was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Rudy in 1988.
