Florence B. Meyer was born in Castalia to parents William A. and Katherine (Schroeder) Meyer on November 24, 1904. She died on Friday, May 1, 1992 at her Cedar Rapids home after a short illness. She was 87.

She worked at Killian's Tea Room and Bishops Buffet for many years, retiring in 1972. Florence was a member of the First Lutheran Church, and was active in several organizations at the church.

She is preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Harold F., Wilbur, Earl and Leonhard; and two sisters, Mrs. Alfred (Charlotte) Olson and Mrs. Carl (Mabel) Schnitzler.

Survivors are 11 nieces and nephews, Madonna J. Moore and Mardella Hoopman, both of Cedar Rapids, Lois Lorraine Huber of Lincoln, Neb., Marlan Meyer of St. Petersburg, Fla., Loretta Bachelder of Decorah, Loren Blumhagen of Allison, Iowa, Arthur Meyer of Atlantic, Iowa, Duane Meyer, Cloy Meyer and Marlys Hager, all of Castalia, and Elmer Meyer of Apache Junction, Ariz.

Funeral services were held on Monday, May 4, 1992 at 5 p.m. at the Cedar Memorial Funeral home in Cedar Rapids, the Rev. Kay Slocum officiating. A brief service was held Tuesday, May 5 at the Schutte Funeral Home in Postville, the Rev. H.. W. Wolfgram officiating. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.
