Paul Neuzil
Paul Neuzil, 86, of Calmar, died Tuesday, April 10, 2001 at Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital in Decorah following a short illness.
Funeral services were held Friday April 13, 2001 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Calmar, with Rev. Donald Hawes officiating.
Mass servers were Dalton Smith and Blake Chipera. Cross bearer was Katie Kruger and Phyllis Elsbernd was lector. Organist Alan Sensor and the St. Aloysius Choir provided music.
Casket bearers were Joe Kruger, Steve Midthun, Tony Siegenthaler, Daniel Neuzil, Bernard Neuzil and BillShimek.
Interment was at St. Aloysius Cemetery in Calmar, and French Funeral Home of Calmar handled arrangements.
Paul Charles Neuzil was born August 23, 1914 in St. Paul, Minn., son of Joseph and Gertrude (Rein) Neuzil.
He graduated from Calmar High School and married Mary Lou Smith July 28, 1941 at St. Luke's Catholic Church in St. Lucas, Iowa.
Paul Neuzil was a route salesman for the Weselmann Meat Market in Calmar for 28 years and also worked at Deco Products in Decorah for 10 years.
He enjoyed gardening, reading, watching sports on TV, visiting with people and having coffee with his friends at Pronto, and he enjoyed his grandchildren most of all.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou Neuzil of Calmar; one son, Richard and Bonnie Neuzil of Sioux Falls, S.D.; three daughters, Linda and Paul Bina of Milwaukee, Wisc.; Susan and Gary Kruger of Rochester, Minn., and Carol Siegenthaler of Rochester; one brother, George and Lois Neuzil of Grand Island, Neb.; one sister, Rose and Lawrence Ales of Lost Nation, Iowa and seven grandchildren.
Paul Charles Neuzil preceded in death by his parents.
