Ervin M. Erickson

Ervin Erickson, 58, of Decorah died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000, at Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital in Decorah.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 26 at 11 a.m. at Decorah Lutheran Church, with Rev. James Glesne and Rev. Ole Winter officiating.

Organist was Kathy Murray. Soloist Lester Hjelmeland sang "The Corner Stone" and soloist Nicollete Kakos sang "On Eagle's Wings" and "How Great Thou Art." The congregation sang "Amazing Grace".

Pallbearers were Phil Bergan, Jason Erdahl, Harlan Erickson, Allen Mclntyre, Robert Mclntyre and Gerald Stortz.

Honorary Pallbearers were Michael Bergan, Jerry Canady, Mike Everett, Alvin Koshatka, David Mclntyre, Todd Mclntyre, Brad Peterson, Brian Peterson, Bruce Peterson, Charlie Peterson and Howard Sande.

Fjelstul Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Ervin M. Erickson was born Dec. 23, 1942 to Harold and Mary (Barth) Erickson in Decorah.

He was united in marriage to Angela Mclntyre on Oct. 5, 1974 at the Orleans Lutheran Church in Ridgeway.

Ervin Erickson worked in auto body repair in various states before he started his own body shop north of Decorah in 1973, Erv's Body Shop. He owned and operated the business from 1973 to the present.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and son. An avid fisherman and hunter, he enjoyed landscaping and gardening, traveling and was a stock car driver in the late 1960's.

Survivors include his wife, Angela Erickson, three children, Shawn and Ruby Melver of Cresco; Kristi and Jason Erdahl of Cresco and Brian Erickson of Decorah; four grandchildren, Adam, Tyler, Jacob and Brendan; his father, Harold of Mabel; one brother, Harlan and Lorraine Erickson of Decorah; one sister Marilyn and Jerry Canady of Cedar Rapids and Angela Erickson's parents, Allen and Carrie Mclntyre of Cresco.

Ervin M. Erickson was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Erickson.
