.....Press Time BulletinROMAN TEKIPPE, 85, of Calmar, died Friday, Jan. 22, 1999, at the Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital in Decorah after a long illness.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 26, at 11 a.m., at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Calmar, with the Rev. Donald Hawes officiating, and burial in the church cemetery.
The French Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Florence of Calmar; seven sons, Earl of Wentworth, Wis., Rudy of Pasadena, Calif., George of Decorah, Lyle of West Union, James of Tama, Patrick of Fort Atkinson and Peter of Story City; and one brother, Paul of Fort Atkinson.

Roman Tekippe
Roman Isadore Tekippe, 85, of Calmar, died Friday, Jan. 22, 1999, at the Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital in Decorah after a long illness.
A funeral service was held Tuesday, Jan. 26, 1999, at 11 a.m., at the St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Calmar, with the Rev. Donald Hawes and area priests officiating.
Casket bearers were Roman's seven sons. Honorary bearers were his grandsons, Steve, David, Tim, Ted, Chris, Mark, Casey and Andy Tekippe.
Burial was at the church cemetery. The French Funeral Home handled arrangements.
Roman was born May 20, 1913, in rural Fort Atkinson, the son of William and Mary (Drilling) Tekippe. He received his education at St. Mary's Catholic School in Festina.
Roman was married to Florence Gieseing June 3, 1940, at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Festina.
He and his wife farmed east of Festina until retiring to Calmar in 1979. Romie's hobbies were playing cards, hunting and fishing.
He was a member of St. Aloysius Church and its Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his wife, Florence of Calmar; seven sons, Earl and Barb Tekippe of Wentworth, Wis., Rudy and Sherry Tekippe of Pasadena, Calif., George and Maureen Tekippe of Decorah, Lyle and Deb Tekippe of West Union, James and Pam of Tama, Patrick and Jaynece Tekippe of Festina and Peter and Elaine Tekippe of Story City; 23 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one brother, Paul Tekippe of Fort Atkinson.
Roman Tekippe was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Leo, Nilus and Father Owen, O.S.B.; and a sister, Sister Sarah Tekippe, O.S.B.
