Delvin Soberg, 93, of Mabel, Minn, died Friday, Dec. 11, 1998, at the Green Lea Manor Nursing Home in Mabel, Minn.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 15, at 11 a.m. at the Hesper Lutheran Church in Hesper, with the Rev. Hans Floan officiating. Visitation will be held one hour before the service.
Burial will be at the Hesper Lutheran Cemetery. The Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel is handling arrangements.
Delvin was born Dec. 5, 1905, in Fillmore County, Minnesota, the son of Simon and Ovedia Soberg. He was baptized and confirmed at the Hesper Lutheran Church and attended school near his home.
On Feb. 4, 1930, he married Cora Rollie and to this union one daughter, Arlene, was born. He farmed in the Mabel area until 1945, when he moved to Hesper, built his home and began a career in carpentry.
Delvin built the Hi-way Skelly Station in Mabel, and operated it for a number of years until he again began doing carpentry work. He retired in 1968.
During his retirement he built items for area churches. In April of 1996, he and Cora moved to Green Lea Manor Nursing Home in Mabel. He was a lifelong member of the Hesper Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, Cora of Mabel; a daughter, Arlene and Robert Bacon of Brownsville, Minn.; two granddaughters, Becky Bacon, and Joan and Tim Morrall; one great granddaughter, Amanda; one sister, Olga Storlie of Spring Grove, Minn.; and nieces and nephews.
Delvin Soberg was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Alfred; one sister, Stella Storlie; and a nephew, Clifford Storlie.
