Bernice Linderbaum, age 77, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2000 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN. Bernice Linderbaum was born on Feb. 24, 1922 in Canoe Township, Winneshiek County, rural Decorah, IA, the daughter of Gustave M. and Amanda (Hanson) Budahl. She received her education in the rural schools in Winneshiek County. On August 15, 1942 she was united in marriage to Earl Frederick Linderbaum at Postville, IA.

Bernice was known as a very giving and caring person, she had many, many friends. She grew up in Iowa and continued to live her life in Iowa after her marriage to Earl. During their early married life, when Earl was in the service, they spent a short time in Ohio.

Bernice was a very active member of her church, serving in many areas, Presbyterian Woman, missions, choir, and Sunday School teacher. Her volunteer work included many areas, some recent activities were working at the Depot Outlet and Oneota Riverview Care Facility. She liked to socialize and enjoyed her many clubs and coffee parties.

She is survived by two sons: Robert (Sheryl) Linderbaum of New Hampton, IA and Roger (Kathy) Linderbaum of Castalia, IA; a daughter, Janice (Harold) Lien of Rochester, MN; a daughter-in-law, Joyce and husband, Ray Piorkowski; ten grandchildren, Renee Lien, Luther (Stacy) Linderbaum, Jeffrey (Susan) Lien, Lonny Linderbaum, Timothy Lien, Heidi (Brian) Mahr, Mathew Linderbaum, Jill Linderbaum, Rodney Linderbaum, and Kimberly Piorkowski; three great grandchildren, Adam, Alex and Rudi Lien; two sisters, Frances Business of Waukon and Helen Voshell of Luana; sisters and brothers-in-law, Alma Burreson of Decorah, IA, Jennie and Edward Clement of Decorah, IA, Charles and Marian Linderbaum of Castalia, IA, Art and Frieda Linderbaum of Ossian, IA, Lawrence and Evelyn Linderbaum of Luana, IA, Esther Linderbaum and Marie Linderbaum, both of Ossian, IA; and many nieces and nephews.

Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Earl on April 19, 1984, and one son, Richard, on August 18, 1976.

Services were held Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000 at Frankville Presbyterian Church, Frankville, Iowa, with Pastor James Walker officiating. Interment was in Frankville Cemetery.

Casket bearers were Jeffrey Lien, Lonny Linderbaum, Mathew Linderbaum, Luther Linderbaum, Timothy Lien, and Rodney Linderbaum. Honorary pallbearers were Adam Lien and Alex Lien.
