Eleanor Rebecca Olson, 85, of Elgin, died Friday night, July 22, 2005, at the Good Samaritan Center in West Union, following an extended illness.

Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Monday, July 25, 2005, at the Elgin Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Galen Huhns and the Rev. Helen Beth Kuhens officiating. Burial was in the Elgin City Cemetery. Casket bearers were Steve Jellison, Joel Luchauer, Tony Luchauer, Andrew Knepper, Nathan Knepper and Ryan Wood. Organist was Mailana Sutter and soloist was Art Amundson. Leonard Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

She was born May 31, 1920, in Frankville Township, near Decorah, to Albert and Amanda (Rovang) Linnevold. She graduated from Decorah High School.

She was united in marriage to Normal Olson on March 18, 1945, at Washington Prairie Church. Three children were born to this union. They made their home in the Elgin area, where she enjoyed gardening and embroidering. She worked for Iowa Turkey Products from 1958 until 1993. She was a member of the Elgin Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include her three children, Virginia (Kerry) Luchauer of Center Point, Gordon Olson of Cedar Rapids and Rebecca Wood of Duluth, Minn.; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in February of 1986; a brother George Linnevold and two brothers in infancy; and a sister, Adelaide Jellison and one sister in infancy.
