Funeral services for Walter Lundy were held Friday, January 9, 1987 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hauge Lutheran Church, rural Decorah, Iowa. The Rev. G. H. Brase officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Walter Raymond Lundy, son of George and Hilda (Engen) Lundy, was born February 13, 1918 in Winneshiek County, Iowa. He died Tuesday, January 6, 1987 in Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital at Decorah, Iowa.

He was baptized and confirmed at the Canoe Ridge Lutheran Church. He attended the rural schools of Winneshiek County. On April 12, 1939 he was married to Gladys Olson at Decorah, Iowa. They had three children. They farmed near Clermont for three years, then moved to Winneshiek County where they have spent most of their lives.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two grandchildren, Michelle and Bradley Halverson, one brother, Delmar and three sisters, Lenora Weenes, Violet Russell and Thelma Falder.

Surviving are his wife, Gladys, two sons, Dale (Norma) Lundy of Decorah, and Duane (Ronnie) Lundy of Des Moines, Iowa; one daughter, Donna (Douglas) Halverson of Decorah; 8 grandchildren, one great grandson, one brother, Henry of Havasu Lake, CA and 3 sisters, Lillian Roney and Lyla Gavle, both of Decorah and Marlys Goeke of Winona, MN.

Casket bearers were Dean Ferrie, Bruce Larson, Carl Homstad, Curtis Faldet, Merlin Faldet, and Gary Gavle.
