Services were held Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009 at Zion Lutheran Church in Castalia for Lillian Snyder, 85, of Castalia. Pastor Dave Lenth officiated. Interment was in the Greenwood-Centennial Cemetery in Castalia. Schluter-Balik Funeral Home in Decorah was in charge of arrangements. Lillian died Monday, Nov. 23, 2009 at her home.
Lillian Lovila (Moore) Snyder was born in Clermont, Feb. 15, 1924, to George and Mabel (Schoonmaker) Moore. She attended school at Moneek Bloomfield #5 country school through 8th grade. Lillian married Lester “Pete” Snyder March 3, 1942, in Frankville. They had five children: Ruth, Dale, LeRoy, Keith and Konnie. Lillian’s main focus in life was her family, especially the babies. She enjoyed reading, sewing, gardening, collecting angels and music boxes.
Lillian’s survivors include her daughter: Ruth (Ed) Scott, Bruce, Wis. and one son: Keith Snyder, Castalia; little sister: Carol (Jim) Melver, Cresco; a granddaughter she and her late husband raised: Jill (Jeff) Mara, Prairie du Chien, Wis.; 20 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren as well as many other close friends and relatives.
Lillian is preceded in death by her parents: George and Mabel (Schoonmaker) Moore; her husband: Lester “Pete” of 63 years March 26, 2005; one daughter: Konnie Foltz May 20, 1995; two sons: Dale Snyder May 4, 1995 and LeRoy Snyder Feb. 14, 2002; one sister: Violet (Melvin) Borseth; four brothers: Ralph (Margaret) Moore, Max (Maxine) Moore, Donald Levi Moore and one brother in infancy.
