Funeral services for Amanda Knutsen, 86, were held Saturday, Sept. 12, at 2 p.m. in Bethany Lutheran Church with Rev. Richard Vettrus officiating. Interment was in Bethany Lutheran Cemetery. Burnham-Wood Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Amanda Knutsen died Wednesday, Sept. 9, at the Good Samaritan Home in West Union.

Amanda Juella (Osterhus) Knutsen, daughter of Knut and Bertha (Kleppe) Osterhus, was born July 23, 1906 at Ossian. She was baptized in infancy and confirmed her faith on October 17, 1920 at the First Lutheran Church, Ossian. She attended rural school through the eighth grade.

On December 18, 1929 Amanda was united in marriage to Knut Knutsen at West Union and to this union were born four children. She spent 14 years of her life in the Seattle, Washington area and the rest of her years were lived in the rural Ossian and West Union area. She was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Knut in 1989; a son Gary in infancy, her parents; five brothers and five sisters.

Amanda is survived by two sons, Kenneth of Blaine, Washington and Walter of Postville; one daughter, Doris Guyer of Elgin; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
