Rites Held For Mrs. E. E. Owen

Funeral services were held on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Schutte Funeral home for Mrs. E. E. Owen, 80, who passed away at Postville Hospital on February 12 following a lengthy illness of two years. The rites were in charge of Rev. Walter T. Martin of the Community Presbyterian Church. Burial was in Postville cemetery.

Melissa Arvilla Webb Owen, daughter of Henry and Rozilla Webb, was born December 1, 1870 on a farm one-half mile east of Postville. She passed away at Postville Hospital on Monday, February 12, at the age of 80 years.

She was married to Eugene E. Owen at Postville on September 26, 1900. To this union three children were born, all of whom survive. They farmed near Frankville for 40 years until 1943 when they moved to Postville.

Mrs. Owen is survived by her husband; three children, Mildred Owen of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Mrs. Vincent Holly of Castalia and Harley D. Owen of Eureka, Illinois; one brother, Herman Webb of Postville; two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Thias of Portland, Oregon and Mrs. Eva Fay of Postville; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Mrs. Owen was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church.
