Marjorie Ruth Olson

Funeral services for Marjorie R. Olson, 72, were held at Zion Lutheran Church Wednesday, Sept. 29. The 11 a.m. service was officiated by Pastor Laurel Nordin and Pastor John Nordin. Burial was in the West Union Cemetery. Burnham-Wood Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.

Marjorie died suddenly Saturday, Sept. 25, 1993 in her home.

Marjorie Ruth (Learn) Olson, daughter of John R. and Myrtle May (Conner) Learn was born July 15, 1921 at Wadena. She was baptized in the United Brethern Church, Castalia, and was confirmed on December 21, 1941 at Marion Lutheran Church, Gunder. Marjorie grew up in Castalia and received her education there.

She was united in marriage to Merrill Olson of Postville on October 8, 1940 at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. The couple operated a service station at Gunder for 32 years before retiring to West Union in 1972. Merrill died in 1972 while they were on a trip in Texas. After his death, Marjorie was employed at Schwan's in West Union.

Marjorie was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, West Union. She was involved in Ruth circle, attended Do-Days, and belonged to the Gleaners hospital unit.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1972.

Marjorie is survived by her sister, Mabel Overhouse, Dubuque, one niece, two nephews and cousins.
