Ulah I. (Bollman) Nordheim

Ulah I. (Bollman) Nordheim, daughter of Willard E. and Elizabeth (Spahr) Bollman, was born February 9, 1909 at Grand Forks, North Dakota. She died December 8, 1995 at her home in Decorah. She was 86 years old.

She was married to Wallace Nordheim in the Decorah Methodist parsonage on June 13, 1931. Ulah was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was active in church and community activities, enjoyed gardening and needlework.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace, who died January 18, 1971; a daughter, Shirley Fairchild, who died in November 1975, five sisters and one brother.

She is survived by her five daughters, Phyllis and Jim Nesteby of Decorah, Ellen and Lewellyn Aasum of Mabel, Minn., Evelyn and Mervin Vatland, Wautoma, Wis., Ruth and Gerald Stortz, Decorah, Ardith and Dean Nierling of Mabel, Minn and two sons, Kenneth and Gloria Nordheim, Decorah and Robert and Doris Nordheim of Menasha, Wis.

Other survivors are 27 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Cyril Bollman of Llano, Calif.; two sisters: Winifred White of Tempe, Ariz. and Vivian Metz of Hoopston, Ill.; a sister-in-law, Gladys Dresselhaus of Decorah and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were on December 11, 1995 at First United Methodist Church in Decorah. Rev. Jim Dale conducted the final rites. Organist was Rev. Kristen Kvamme and soloist was Kenneth Timmerman. Pallbearers were Gary Fairchild, Mike Aasum, Larry Vatland, Randy Stortz, Carey Nordheim, Brian Nordheim, Matt Nierling and Tom Byrnes. Arrangements were made by Fjelstul Funeral Home. Burial will be at Phelps Cemetery.
