Funeral services for Wilbur H. Reckward of Postville were held Saturday, May 19, 1990 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville. The Rev. Julius Peterson officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.

Wilbur Herman Reckward, son of Herman and Mabel (Harvey) Reckward, was born June 16, 1918 at Castalia, Iowa. He died Wednesday, May 16, 1990 at the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon, Iowa.

He was baptized March 29, 1953 by the Rev. Frederick Ludwig at St. Paul Lutheran Church and was received into the church on April 5, 1953. Wilbur attended the rural schools near Castalia.

On October 10, 1940 he was married to Mardella Reincke at the Parsonage in Monona. The couple lived in the Castalia, Ossian, Gunder, Waukon and Postville areas during their lifetime.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife who died June 19, 1989.

Surviving are his brother Virgil of Castalia, and a sister Charlotte Bigler of Fowler, CO.

Casket bearers were: Craig Bodley, Kenneth Everman, Bill Buddenberg, Kenneth Wendel, Eugene Szabo and Frank Hangartner.
