From the January 17, 1924 issue of the Decorah Republican
On Monday last, E.R. Haines received word that his cousin, Oscar L. Street, had died suddenly at his home in Hesper, about noon. Later information indicated that Mr. Street, who is township assessor, had intended to start out on his rounds that morning, but, not feeling well, returned home and died soon after. It is the opinion of his physician that a clot of blood in his heart was the cause of his death.
Mr. Street was the oldest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. B. G. Street, who resided at Hesper for many years, and was about 50 years of age. Most of his life was spent in Hesper Township, and he had an extended acquaintance among the people of that community. His sudden and untimely death was a shock to all of them, for he was held in sincere esteem.
Mr. Street was married in March 1897 to Minnie White, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B. M. White. She and their five children survive him. He is also survived by his brothers, John Street of Bedford, Iowa, and Alfred Street of Cleveland, Ohio, and by his sister Mrs. Stone Tweten of Ivanhoe, Minnesota. The funeral services will be held at the Friends Church in Hester at 11 o'clock today.
