Arthur Lindy Frey

Funeral services for Lindy Frey, 79, were Friday, June 8 at the Frankville Community Presbyterian Church. Pastor Lynne Hanna officiated.

Arthur Lindy Frey was born July 8, 1927, at Wadena, to Will and Hazel (Perkins) Frey. Lindy, as his friends and family called him, died Monday, June 4, 2007.

He graduated from Wadena High School in 1945. December 15, 1949, he married Betty Jeanne Daisy in West Union, at the Bethel Presbyterian Church. They had five children, Sally, Kathleen, Philo, David, and Larry.

The Frey family lived at Wadena until 1963 when they moved to their present farm northwest of Postville. In 1971 they received the Allamakee County Farm Family of the Year award. A meticulous farmer, Lindy was proud of his detailed farm records and was again rewarded for his hard work with the Pork Producer of the Year award.

Operating a dairy and hog farm kept the family busy, but they found time for vacations and fun. One of Lindy's favorite pastimes was playing cards. Family memories include a trip to Disneyland and the Cattle Congress at Waterloo. As the family grew and grandchildren came, Lindy and Betty always found time to visit. Lindy was an active member of the Frankville Community Presbyterian Church and a valued member of the Postville Community.

Lindy was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Irene, a brother, John, a grandson, Brady, and a son, Philo.

Lindy is survived by his wife, Betty; four children; Sally (Ryan) Fox, Montrose, Colo., Kathleen (Pete) Fichtel, Hiawatha, David Frey, Chicago, Ill.; and Larry (Annette) Frey, Postville; five grandchildren: Stephanie Fox, Jennifer Craig, Jason Frey, Emily Frey and Katelyn Frey. Lindy is also survived by a sister, Dora Medberry, Elgin, and a brother, Warren Frey, Mount Vernon.
