Almira Wolfe Passes On
Funeral services were held at the Community church her Wednesday for Mrs. Almira Wolfe, who passed away Sunday evening after a long illness. Rev. Grossheim of Waukon officiated and the Frankville singers who sang two hymns were Mrs. Arthur Brandt, Mrs. Walter Brandt, Mrs. E. R. Birdsell, Mrs. Lynn Crawford, Mrs. Thomas Crawford, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Christofferson, Walter Pilgrim and Cleone Crawford. Mrs. Fred Waters was accompanist. The flower-bearers were Mrs. Edna B??lman, Mrs. Perlie Cook, Mrs. Henry Schweinefus, Mrs. F. J. Ambrose and Mrs. Halvor Myren. The pallbearers were Irving Crawford, F. J. Ambrose, Walter Brandt, Emmett Schroeder. Henry Schweinefus and Perlie Cook.
Almira Smith Wolfe was born Dec. 27, 1868 in Frankville township, a daughter of Ammi and Elizabeth Smith. She attended Valders College in Decorah and taught school in Winneshiek and Allamakee counties. She was married to George B. Wolfe of Decorah on November 3, 1892. They made their home in Decorah for two years and then moved to the Ammi Smith farm in Frankville township, where they lived for thirty years. Their last days were spent on a smaller farm near Frankville.
Mrs. Wolfe was preceded in death by her husband who died in August, 1941, her sister, Mrs. Althea Daubney, and two grandsons. She is survived by one son, Lloyd, and a grandson, Jerry Wolfe.
Those from a distance attending the funeral were Mrs. Georgie Clark of Prior Lake, Minn., Mrs. Lydia Carrol, St. Paul, Mrs. Mabel Cyr of Minneapolis, Minn., Charles Davis of Waukon, Mrs. R. O. and Mrs. O. A. Jagerson, Harold Jagerson and Mr. and Mrs. Francis Jagerson, all of Freeport.
