Funeral services for James Myron Wilder, Decorah, were held Thursday, Dec. 29, 2 p.m. at Washington Prairie Lutheran Church. Rev. Richard Sansgaard officiated. Paul Bruvold was organist and Dennis Cook and Karla Klepper were soloists.
James Myron Wilder, son of Flavius and Julia Miles Wilder was born May 12, 1933 in Lansing, IA. He died of cancer at his home on Dec. 26, 1988.
He attended rural schools in Allamakee Co. and Village Creek and graduated from Waukon High School.
On Feb. 23, 1953 he married Phyllis Jean Ashbacher at the French Creek Methodist Church. The couple had 7 children. They farmed in Allamakee and Winneshiek counties.
Myron Served in the U.S. Army from Sept. 3, 1953 to Aug. 3, 1955. He was a DHIA Supervisor and Artificial Inseminator for Curtis-Candy Co.
He was a member of Washington Prairie Lutheran Church.
Preceding him in death were his parents, one son, two sisters, Iva Sandry and Etta Mae Wilder and a brother in infancy.
Surviving are his wife, Phyllis; children, Monte Wilder, Decorah; Rebecca Walters, Decorah; Barb Upton, Postville; Kristina Wilder, Hollandale, MN; Melissa Wilder at home and Cindy Remick, Spring Grove, MN; 9 grandchildren; 2 brothers, Gene of Dorchester and Marc of Lady Lake, FL; a sister, Ardis Cole of Lansing.
Pallbearers: Mike, Blaine, David and Brent Wilder, Duane Cole and Myron Cole.
