Wedding Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Theo. Kratz near Ridgeway were very forcibly reminded last Sunday of their twenty-seventh wedding anniversary, when 220 relatives and friends unexpectedly appeared, and in their absence at church took possession of their home, and awaited their return.
After a delightful dinner had been served by all, the crowd gathered in the shade on the spacious lawn and Rev. L. N. Day conducted devotional services. “Blest by the Tie that Binds” was sung. A part of Psalm 34 was read, and prayer was offered. Then on behalf of the children, relatives and friends some handsome table silverware and a purse of silver was presented to the worthy couple. Before the guests took their departure they personally congratulated Mr. and Mrs. Kratz and expressed their sincere wishes for future happiness. The service closed by singing “God be with you ‘till we meet again.”
Mr. Theo. Kratz and Miss Sarah Martin were united in marriage Sept. 22, 1887, at Lansing, Iowa, by Rev. J. Knoche, and have since made their home west of Ridgeway.
