GOLDEN WEDDING.
Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Evans of Glenwood Commemorate Event of July 12, 1864.
Last Sunday, July 12th a large crowd of relatives and friends from near and far gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Chris. Evans of Glenwood, the occasion being their 50th birthday anniversary. People commenced arriving at an early hour, bringing well filled baskets, and by 2 o’clock more than 350 people had partaken of a hearty picnic dinner beneath the cool shade of the surrounding grove. The afternoon was spent in a most pleasing manner. After refreshments had again been served, people commenced leaving everyone extending to Mr. and Mrs. Evans their most hearty congratulations and wishing them many more happy years.
Mr. and Mrs. Evans came to this country from Norway in the early fifties and have been residents of Winneshiek county ever since. Considering their age, they are both in reasonably good health and capable of living many more years together. As a remembrance of the day they were presented with many handsome gifts.
