HYMENEAL.
On Tuesday afternoon, June 30, 1914, at the Lutheran church, Hesper, Iowa, was solemnized the marriage of Miss Ruth E. Darrington and Mr. Clarence O. Rolshus, Rev. Rasmussen of Mabel officiating. At three o’clock the bridal party marched to the alter, to the strains of the Wedding March from Lohengrin played by Mrs. Rasmussen. Immediately preceding the ceremony Miss Marian N. Lein sang the appropriate ballad “My Love for All Eternity,” accompanied by Mrs. Rasmussen. The bridesmaids were Miss Dora Wold, who wore white, and the Misses Mayme Wold and Fannie Welch, gowned in pale blue. The bride was beautifully attired in white shadow lace over white net, with wedding veil of tulle, held in place by sprigs of smilax. The groom was attended by Messrs. Carl Anderson, Byron Darrington and Lawrence Iverson. The church was eleborately{sic} decorated in blue and white, the color scheme for the occasion. Following the ceremony the guests repaired to the home of Mr. Frank Darrington, father of the bride, where a sumptuous wedding supper was served.
The beauty and number of gifts displayed was evidence of the high esteem in which these young people are held. Both bride and groom have grown to womanhood and manhood in the community of Hesper and the best wishes of all go with them on their journey through life.
On Friday evening, June 26th, 1914, the Misses Dora and Mayme Wold, Eda Young, Fannie Welch and Marian Lein gave a “miscellaneous” shower at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Wold in honor of Miss Darrington. The guests numbered about fifty. The bride to be was the recipient of many useful articles. Light refreshments consisting of lemonade and cake were served, shortly after which the company departed, having spent an enjoyable evening.
