Married in Chicago.
On Friday last, Jan. 14th, at the home of Rev. Olin Caward in Chicago, occurred the marriage of Miss Alice Pamelia Baker, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Baker, and Maurice Wilson Daubney of Centralia, Wash., only son of Dr. F. W. Daubney. The event was not a surprise to the friends of the young people as it was known that their marriage was to occur soon. Miss Baker recently went to Chicago to visit Mrs. Caward, who was one of her school friends several years ago at Washington, D. C., and there she was joined by Mr. Daubney last week. Beside the officiating clergyman and his wife, the only other witnesses to the ceremony were Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Shermerhorn, cousins of the bride. Mr. and Mrs. Daubney have been guests of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Waterman of Davenport this week and will spend a few days with parents and friends in Decorah before departing for Centralia, which will be their home.
Among all the young men who have known Decorah as their home few have attained more personal popularity than the groom. Previous to taking up his home in the west he was deputy to County Auditor Linnevold and his service there was marked by accuracy and ability. During the past two years he has held a position of responsibility with the Union Loan and Trust Co. of Centralia, Wash., where he is winning his way by his personal worth. He has chosen for his bride one of Decorah’s most charming daughters—one who is in all ways worthy. May they enjoy a long and happy wedded life is a wish that is echoed by all their many friends.
