Hymeneal.
On Wednesday morning, Aug. 18th at the Catholic parsonage, Rev. Father Mullen officiated in the marriage of Theodore A. Bailey and Miss Grace A. Monroe. The groom was attended by his brother, Arthur L. Bailey, and the bride by her sister Miss Gladys Monroe and the ceremony was followed by a wedding breakfast at the home of Mr. and Mrs. N. R. Groff at which a small company of relatives were the guests. Mr. and Mrs. Bailey departed at 8:30 for Des Moines where they will spend a few days with relatives, and on their return they will, for the present, take up their residence at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Groff.
The groom is the older son of Mrs. Mary A. Bailey, and the larger part of his life has been spent in Decorah. After graduating from Decorah high school he entered the store of Mr. Groff where he has made himself popular with patrons and a valued assistant of his employer. This much we vouchsafe to say without reserve, but the personal relation between this young man and the REPUBLICAN editors began in his babyhood, and we feel that it would be unseemly for us to say many things that we would record without restraint were he the grandson and nephew of others.
The bride is the oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Monroe of Cedar Rapids. For two years she has made her home with her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Groff, and by her gracious manner has won a secure place in the friendship and esteem of a large number of acquaintances. To all of these it will be a source of much gratification that she is to continue to make her home among them.
Among the out of town guests who were present were the bride’s parents and sister, and Mrs. James Hardy and and{sic} sister, Mrs. Margaret Brown and Miss Gertrude Brown, all of Cedar Rapids, and Miss Frances Hardy of Watertown, S. D.
