A Thirtieth Wedding Anniversary.

There was an unusual gathering at the home of Mr. and Mrs. {?}. Iverson in Canoe township last Sunday, the occasion being a surprise in honor of their thirtieth wedding anniversary. It was due to the good memory of Mrs. Nels Clausen that the event was remembered and she took the responsibility of extending an invitation to several hundred friends of Mr. and Mrs. Iverson, nearly all of whom responded and spent a very pleasant day in spite of the rain. It was on June 29th, 1877, that Mr. and Mrs. Iverson were united in marriage, their wedding being the first to be performed in the then new Canoe church. Their life has been a happy one, blessed with nine children and worldly prosperity, and they are still young enough to look forward to many more years of life together among friends who hold them in high esteem. It may not be out of the way to record in this place that Mr. Iverson was the first white child born in Canoe township. Before departing the guests made up a purse of money which was presented to Mrs. Iverson. One and all voted the day a most pleasant one throughout.

Transcriber’s Note: The initials are hard to read – could possibly be L. L.
