Married Fifty Years.
On Thursday last Mr. and Mrs. Lambert Dresselhaus celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of their marriage. The exact date of the event occurred in October, but for various reasons they chose to wait until Thanksgiving day. Invitations were issued at church Thursday morning, and with the exception of a few who were especially invited, none suspected that they were being asked to participate in such a rare event. There were just fifty people present. Mr. and Mrs. Dresselhaus have three daughters—Mrs. Jake Anstell and Mrs. Will Kleimenhagen of Preston, Minn., and Mrs. Henry Dehming of Locust. These with their husbands and children were present. One son died in childhood. Rev. Weinands of Cresco was also among the guests and delivered a short talk, taking the fourth verse of the 46th chapter of Isaiah for a text; and not because he thought they needed it, but because it would be a pleasant feature of the occasion he retied the knot that has held Mr. and Mrs. Dresselhaus in steadfast love and devotion all these years. Mr. Dresselhaus is seventy-three years old and his wife seventy-five. They came to Winneshiek county shortly after their marriage, hence are among the pioneers. Peace and prosperity have attended them on life’s journey and they are now enjoying the serene happiness that is the worthy portion of those who have lived upright, useful lives. That they may be spared many years is the wish of a host of friends.
