Last Friday, at high noon, at the home of the bride’s parents at Newburg, Minn., Rev. Thomas J. Elwick and Miss Celia Valder were united in marriage, Rev. F. P. Shatter, of this city, officiating. The groom is the son Mr. and Mrs. John Elwick, and during the past year has been stationed at Melbourne as the pastor of the M. E. church. Miss Valder is the sister of Mr. C. H. Valder, of the Valder school, in which institution she was for more than three years one of the principal instructors. On Saturday evening at the home of John Elwick a reception was held and a company of some thirty of Rev. and Mrs. Elwick’s Decorah friends gathered to extend congratulations.
Monday last they went to Mason City and there the Upper Iowa conference will determine where their home for the coming year will be. Wherever it may be they have the pleasure of knowing that with them go the kindest expressions of heartiest good wishes for a life of peace and happiness from a throng of friends and acquaintances.
