GIESEN—BERNATZ—At St. Benedict's church, Decorah, Rev. Father Garahan officiating, Mr. Henry J. Giesen and Miss Nellie M. Bernatz. eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Geo, Bernatz.
After the marriage ceremony the invited guests repaired to the residence of the bride's parents where a royal wedding feast was enjoyed. Guests were present from many different parts of the county, especially from the vicinity of Calmar, Ossian and Fort Atkinson, where the two families thus united are widely related. Without extending invitations beyond the uncles and aunts, the guests present numbered nearly three hundred, as reckoned by the table holding the plates, which was re-set five times. The event, was a very jolly one, and was without a cloud; the union is approved by the parents and near friends on both sides as a very fit and proper one in every way.
The bride and groom left on the afternoon train for Madison, intending to visit several cities. On their return the wedding will be duly celebrated at Calmar by a dancing party to be given by the groom, at the opera house, which will be open to all.
The wedding presents were very numerous and unusually fine.
