Hymeneal.
The wedding of Miss Rachel Halvorson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Z. Halvorson, and Mr. Peter Tonning of Leroy, occurred last evening at six o’clock at the United Lutheran Church. Rev. John Halvorson, of Minneapolis, brother of the bride, officiating. The church was beautifully trimmed for the occasion with golden red and green. Immediately after the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents and a large number of friends paid their respects to Mr. and Mrs. Tonning. This evening they depart for Leroy, Winona and Minneapolis to visit relatives. From the latter place they go to Madison, Minn., where Mr. Tonning has been engaged as principal of the public schools. That they go so far from home is the only regret of their friends.
The bride has grown to womanhood in Decorah and is happy in the love, friendship and esteem of a host of acquaintances who wish her abundant prosperity on the sea of life. Her husband is a young man not unknown to our citizens, having attended school here a few years ago. Those who enjoy his acquaintance know him as a man of character and ability, right worthy of the fair wife he has won
The REPUBLICAN extends its congratulations.
