Halsey – 18th Wedding Anniversary 1899

On November 21, 1881, Elisha T, Halsey and Laura Smith were united in marriage, and, in memory of the event, about sixty of their relatives and friends gave them a genuine surprise on the evening of Nov. 21, ’99. Among those present were Mrs. Samantha Smith, mother of Mrs. Halsey, and Mds. H. C. Rowe, John Richert and W Griswold, Rob Smith, Charley Smith, and Frank Smith, brothers and sisters of Mrs. Halsey. Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Halsey and John Richert were the only ones of the immediate family who were not present. The evening passed very pleasantly with games by the young people, songs by the children, und very enjoyable music on the violin and organ. As Aunt Samantha never lets people go hungry from her home, she planned it so that the commissary was well supplied on this occasion, and a bountiful repast was enjoyed by all. The substantial reminder of the occasion was a set of cane seat oak dining chairs,
