An Old Document Recorded.
Monday last Recorder Lawrence received for filing an original patent on some Bloomfield township land. It was sent by F. P. Kennedy, of Ossian. The document bore date of June 15th, 1855, and the signature of Franklin Pierce. It granted to John B. Huston, of Madison Co., Ind., “the west half of the southwest quarter of Sec. 35, township 96, north of Range 7, West, in the district of lands subject to sale at Dubuque, Iowa, containing 80 acres.” It isn’t frequent that those relics of pioneer days come to light now, and when they do they are viewed with much interest by the younger generation.
