FIFTY YEARS WEDDED.
Mr. and Mrs. Simon Broghammer Celebrate their Golden Wedding Anniversary.
Monday, February 20th, was a golden day in the life of Mr. and Mrs. Simon Broghammer, of Pleasant township. It was fifty years and one day ago that they, as young people, stood before the priest, at Racine, Wis., and took upon themselves the vows that made them man and wife. And there gathered at the family home to rejoice with them and celebrate the anniversary, brothers and sisters, five, with sons and daughters, a round dozen. They came from North Dakota, Nebraska, Minnesota, and round about home, to have one of those family reunions that gives one a glimpse of the joy of Heaven. These were, of the former, John Broghammer and wife, of Ossian: Magdalena Pfeifer and husband, from Albert Lea, Minn., and Marion Becker, also of Albert Lea. Likewise the children were:—Frank B., and wife, of Osnabrook, North Dakota; Mary Stoskopf and husband, of Park River, North Dakota; Joseph, of Charon, Nebraska, from abroad, and those who are round about home, Charles, Henry, Michael and John; Johanna Stortz and husband, and Elizabeth, widow of Philip Oehler.
Father Hawe went up from Decorah and celebrated mass Monday forenoon, and after a substantial golden wedding dinner, the rest of the day was given over to the rejoicings and jolity that belongs to such a rare event. Indeed the good time did not end until the next day.
Mr. and Mrs. Broghammer were both born in Wurtemberg, Germany. He is now 76 years old, and she is 73; both enjoying reasonably good health. May they live to enjoy a diamond wedding.
