Wedding Anniversary
PLYMOUTH HOCK, Feb. 16, 1912.
On the above evening this ancient village of historic name was informally captured by some two hundred friends and neighbors of his honor, John Ellingson and wife. Soon, upon the approach and under cover of darkness the attacking forces in companies and squads swooped in and at 9 o'clock the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Ellingson was absolutely in their possession. They carried no guns or implements of war, defensive or offensive, but an ample commissary sufficient in eatables and refreshments to maintain the seige indefinitely. Indeed commander Wilhur is entitled to very much credit for the marshaling of the forces to such a degree of success. The surrender was complete, the date of which is the twenty-first anniversary of the wedding of the captives.
In the negotiation, the question of indemnity was unusually determined by the invaders voluntarily financing the operations and presenting the worthy couple and family a beautiful sideboard (cost $25) and $46 in coin, and last but not least the good will and wishes of the host of friends and neighbors gathered unto them on this occasion. It need hardly be written that Mr. and Mrs. Ellingson received these material mementoes and well wishes with responsive graciousness and thanks and reciprocal well wishes.
Generally accompanied by their ladies, the following gentlemen took a prominent part financially and by presence, (a few absent): Ed Wilbur, James Gaul, Thos. Sexton, T. McCabe, Andy Carolan, A. G.
