John H. Adams Married.
For several days it has been rumored in Decorah that John H. Adams, only son of Mr. and Mrs. George W. Adams, had recently been married to a young lady residing at Sterling, Ill. The information was contained in a clipping from a Sterling paper sent to a Decorah lady by some friends. Mr. Adams was very non-committal concerning the report. A reporter for the REPUBLICAN hunted up that clipping and it bore so plainly the ear marks of authenticity that telegrams were dispatched to Sterling and Mt. Carroll, where the ceremony was reported to have been performed asking for information. Yesterday afternoon from Mt. Carroll, a reply was received stating that “on Jan. 13 there appeared at the office of the county clerk at Mt. Carroll, J. H. Adams, of Decorah, Iowa, and Miss Julia Maynard, of Sterling, Ill , who applied for and were granted a license to wed. The records show they were married by C. L. Hostetter, justice of the peace. On the same day they were registered at Hotel Glenview as J. H. Maynard and wife and left on Jan. 14.” The clipping from the Sterling paper says that Mrs. Adams returned to Sterling, while Mr. Adams returned to his home in Decorah to prepare a home for his bride. Mrs. Adams is spoken of as a daughter of Mrs. M. Wing and a charming young woman in every respect. We understand Mr. Adams will bring his bride to Decorah next week and we are sure she will be cordially welcomed by her husband’s friends.
