JOHNSON'—THORSEN.
At 5:30 o’clock Tuesday afternoon at the home of the bride’s parents in this city, Miss Lillian Gertrude Johnson, oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. P. Johnson, and Prof. I. August Thorsen of Minneapolis, were united in marriage by Rev. Isaac B. Torrison of the First Lutheran church. The ceremony was in English and was witnessed by relatives and a few old and intimate family friends. The bride was attired in a gown of net over white satin, and she was attended by Miss Cora Thompson of Beloit, Wis., as maid of honor, and Misses Hattie and Hilda Johnson as bridesmaids. Miss Thompson’s gown was of nile green crepe de chine and the Misses Johnson were dressed in white. The groom was attended by Eugene G. Johnson. Following the ceremony a sumptuous supper was served, and Mr. and Mrs. Thorsen departed on the evening train for St. Paul.
In this event Decorah loses another of her fairest daughters. All of Miss Johnson’s life has been spent here, and she possesses a charming personality that has drawn many friends to her. Added to this personality is the culture and refinement of one of our best homes, and exceptional educational advantages. Mr. Thorsen as a student and graduate of Luther College was closely identified for a number of years with the various activities that bring students in close touch with our citizens and won a large measure of respect and esteem for his manly qualities. Since leaving Decorah he has supplemented his education by studies in eastern universities and has been one of the prominent young educators of Minnesota. As mentioned last week, he has recently resigned the principalship of the Madelia schools to accept an important post with the School Publishing Co. of Minneapolis, where he and his bride will make their home.
Those who were present at the wedding from out of town were:—Mr. and Mrs. H. A Haugan, son Henry and daughter Mrs. Grosvenor, H. G. Haugan and daughter Miss Ragna, all of Chicago; Mrs. M. Thorsen and daughter of River Falls, Wis.; Mrs. J. A. Thorsen, Dr. A. A. Thorsen, and S. O. Sanderson of Rochester, Minn.; Miss Ella Thorsen of St. Paul; Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Little of Cass Lake, Minn.; Miss Marie Thorsen, Kirksville, Mo.: Miss Cora Thompson, Beloit, Wis.
