On Friday, the 9th, Mr. and Mrs. David Darling celebrated their golden wedding. There were present relatives from Mantorville, Minn., from Jackson Co., Iowa, from Wisconsin. Chicago, Decorah, Mabel, Hesper and a large number from Burr Oak. 75 guests were seated at dinner, which was an immense affair. Their cards announced “no presents received,” but the children did smuggle in a few.

Golden Wedding.
Married, Oct. 9, 1853 in Genoa, Wisconsin, Louisa Ervin and David Darling. The following spring Mr. and Mrs. Darling moved to Winneshiek Co, Iowa, where they have since resided with the exception of two years in Dodge county, Minnesota and one year in Genoa. Thirty-one years ago they purchased the Ervin homestead where they now reside.
Friday, Oct. 9, being the 50th of their wedding day, about ninety seven relatives and friends gathered at their home to help them celebrate and extend their good wishes. Among the old neighbors present were four couples who had reached their fiftieth anniversary and one couple had passed their sixtieth; three other couples have nearly reached the half century of wedded life. Among the guests from a distance were Mrs. Harriet Wentworth, sister of Mrs. Darling, and her grand-child, Gladys Wentworth, of Mantorville, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Rob. Darling and Mr. Perry Darling of Miles, Iowa; Mr. Will Darling and Mrs. Orville Blacksten and son of Kingsley. Iowa; Mrs. Albert Darling and children of Montrose, S. D., Mrs. Clara Loomis, grand-neice of Mrs. Darling, and three children of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Bradford Smalley; Mr. and Mrs. S. Oxley; and Miss Imogen Lincoln; Mr. S. B. Ervin; M., and Mrs. Chas. Marsh, and three children of Decorah, Iowa.
