Monday morning at ten o’clock, at the home of the bride’s parents. Miss Florence Baker, oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. H. Baker, was united in marriage with Mr. James B. Schermerhorn of Chicago, Rev. M. Willett officiating. The ceremony was performed in the presence of about fifty near relatives and after the wedding breakfast Mr. and Mrs. Schermerhorn departed for Chicago where they will make their home. The bride is a young lady who is honored and respected by a large company of friends. She is graced with the influences of a Christian home and character and attainments which will bring to her new relations all that which is worthy and best in life. Mr. Schermerhorn has made frequent visits to Decorah in his capacity as representative of the firm of Swift & Co., and is vouched for as a gentleman of splendid attainments and upright character.
Those from out of town who were present at the wedding were Mr. Fred Davis of Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. George Greene and family of St. Cloud, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Davis and family, Mrs. A. M. Davis, Miss Cornelia Davis and Mrs. Steven Davis, all of Monona, Misses Elizabeth and Julia Whitman, Winona, Miss Bertha Wilby, Waterloo, Miss Howard, Lewiston, Me., Mrs. John Cessna and family, Grinnell, Miss Scott of Fayette, Mr. and Mrs. G. R. Baker and family of Ridgeway, Misses Edna and Dora Carter, Hesper, and Mr. Bert Baker, Sioux City.
