Last evening at eight o’clock at the home of the bride’s mother on east Water street, Miss Gertrude Chase, daughter of Mrs. Mary Chose, and John M. Bernatz were united in marriage, Rev. K. W. Robbins officiating. The ceremony was witnessed by relatives and a few friends and was followed by a wedding supper. Previous to their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Bernatz had fitted up a home in the residence of Mrs. Jacob Haas, and have already gone to housekeeping. Along with a large company of friends and acquaintances the REPUBLICAN joins in extending heartiest congratulations. Mr. Bernatz is one of Decorah’s most sturdy and reliable young business men. As a member of the firm of Bernatz Brothers he has the business management of their large milling interests, a position he fills with capacity and intelligence. His bride is a young lady who in the few short years she has resided here has won an enviable place in the esteem of a large and growing circle of friends, and shares with Mr. Bernatz a deserved popularity
